Fun for children
1. The YMCA of the Rockies has wonderful pony rides for children under the age of 4 or 5. The ponies are really gentle. It is 20 minutes for $10. The parent can lead the pony around a little path.
2. Also, there is a book in the bookcase with fun nature activities to do with toddlers. Very easy and can do them most anywhere.
3. Snow shoeing in the park or around town. We provide many pairs of snowshoes at each house. Sledding is also a huge hit with children.
4. Guided snowshoe walk with the national park rangers.
5. Tour lake Estes on foot powered paddleboats. Or rent a pontoon boat.
6. Can also rent 4 person bicycles to bike around lake Estes.
7. There are several miniature golf places in town.
8. For rainy days or evenings there are two movie theatres in town.
9. At Rocky Mountain National Park there are campfire talks and ranger hikes of varying degrees of difficulty. Check out there website at http://www.nps.gov/romo/

11. There are many locations to trout fish and fly fish throughout Estes and RMNP.
12. Horseback riding is a big favorite. You can go to the YMCA or to any of the local stables.
13. Swimming indoors at the Estes Park Aquatics Center.There is a small sandy beach next to Lake Estes marina, although the water is very cold, but fun on hot days to play in the sand and get feet wet.
14. There are a few good playgrounds. One is near the high school and fairgrounds the other is at the YMCA.
15. Take a picnic and head to the many scenic lakes or picnic tables in RMNP.
16. There are festivals every weekend in the summer and fall at the Fairgrounds. They range from rodeos, horse shows, wool festivals, to a huge Scottish festival.
17. There is live music at several locations in town. Check the local paper for listings when you arrive.
18. And last but not least, there is BOWLING!
