Spring
Spring brings our heaviest and wettest snows of the year. We tend to get up slope moisture (moisture coming from the South and East), and it butts up against the Continental Divide. We can have storms that sit over us for a couple of days and drop quite a bit of snow. Yet in between we have perfect sunny days with highs in the 50's or 60's. Snow tends to melt in no time at all. With all this warmth and moisture, it is no surprise that Estes Park rapidly turns green, with the elk beginning to birth. This is a lovely time of renewal and rebirth in Estes Park.
Summer
Enjoy beautiful summers at our Estes Park family vacation rental homes. Expect high temperatures from the mid 60's to the low 90's, typically staying in the 80's. Mornings are pristine, with increasing clouds as afternoon approaches. It can be advisable to begin hiking earlier in the day, as thunderstorms can role in. Generally they do not last long, giving way to gorgeous evenings and clear nights. Lows at night range from the mid 30's to low 50's, hovering in the mid 40's range.
Fall
Fall in the Estes Valley can be the best weather. The days start cool with sunshine all day. Daytime temperatures range from the upper 40's to the mid 80's. You can usually count on the upper 60's to low 70's. Nights start getting crisp with lows in the 20's and 30's. Aspen trees are turning a brilliant gold, beginning in mid September. The color lasts about a month, peaking around October 1. Of course this can vary due to weather patterns.
Winter
Most fortunately winter storms have a tendency to bypass Estes park They move in from the West, leaping over Estes Park on their way to the plains in the East. This makes for relatively mild winters. Surprisingly temperatures can reach the upper 50's, although temperatures sometimes do not make it out of single digits, and the local weather can remain quite unpredictable. It can be sunny on the South side of town, while the Fall River Valley is getting a heavy snow. Winter is a great time to visit this beautiful winter wonderland.
